Via Volvo: Volvo's famous five take their seats for Henry Ford award: "Five engineers at Volvo Car Corporation were celebrating recently as they won the prestigious 2003 Henry Ford Award for their innovative engineering solution to the rear seats of the award-winning Volvo XC90. Creating an all-new car like the Volvo XC90 places a huge number of design and engineering problems, but for the team of designers and engineers, there are no problems, only solutions. Five Volvo Cars engineers, led by Leo Kullman, project manager for the interior of the critically-acclaimed SUV have been honoured by the company for finding an innovative solution to a complex engineering problem. Incorporating three rows of full-size seats in a car that is just 65mm longer than the Volvo XC70 was one of the toughest challenges for Kullman and his colleagues Morgan Larsson, Lennart Liedberg, Fredrik Ekl�f and Anders Bell. "
